As you will know, I have a TMax mk4 for fun, and the Bev350ST for commuting.
However, as is the way these days, I'm going to be made redundant before long, though this isn't in itself a problem as I shall become an extremely young pensioner!
Whilst my future plans are a bit vague as yet, I don't think I'll be commuting, so the question arises whether to keep or sell the Bev. On the one hand, I could raise around £2500+ or so selling it (handy if a Tmax mk5 comes out!!), and wouldn't have to insure it or tax it or service it. As it is, I don't see it getting a huge amount of use, as I also have the Tmax and the car. On the other hand, now I've got it, is it worth selling it, as it doesn't cost that much to run, and provides a backup in case the Tmax throws a hissy fit! It could also be a winter bike taking the salt and crap so the Tmax doesn't have to. Part of the original reasoning for buying it was that it was grunty enough to be a winter ride in case I ever bought something rather less suitable for winter than a Tmax (eg Honda N750X), which is still possible, though I don't find it particularly comfortable on longer trips.
Or, further alternatives might be to replace the Bev by a cheapish 125 for local trips, or even sell it and buy an electric pushbike or something for the very local trips!
Any views welcomed -well, sensible(ish) ones anyway!!!

If your intention is to find more work then keep it for a while and see what comes up. If not and you are happy retired then flog it and go to Benidorm over winter.

Re: Decisions, Decisions...
I recently sold my car, sorned my monkeybike and bought a couple of pushbikes, best thing I have done so far, been sat on my arse so long now I forgot what exercise and fresh air is like, have 4 bikes now and bidding on a 5th, not so much for riding as doing up in the winter months for my man shed projects, I will sell the monkeybike eventually and all my other bike related bits I have stored round then get another scooter only if I find work or win the lotto, too many years chuckin money down the drain on bikes and being robbed off insurance companys has left me bored or biking in general as no matter what bike or scoot I buy I will only use it round the doors and the odd rideout anyways where I usually hang out so its not a priority now!

do you know, Im feeling the same way dezzie, of all the bikes Ive had,yes Ive enjoyed them dont get me wrong, but Im most happy on me honda 90. went out on the forza weekend, did 120 miles, I can do that on the 90, and its bags of fun. Also I come home with a sence of achievement after being on the 90. Id love a push bike but my knees are knackered.

Speaking as a new fairly young early retiree myself, I know the dilemma. As others are saying, I guess it does depend on whether you are going to get another job and have the need for a commuter. If so keep the Bev. Otherwise, the skies the limit! Get and do whatever you want that makes you happy. Well, at least that's my philosophy...but I talk much rubbish! Other more sensible people will come along in a moment and give you proper advice...
Me, I'm looking to add the Sym 600i to my stable alongside my Burgman 400. And today I discovered a Sym dealer on my doorstep so am a happy man. I'm also going for a test ride on the Kymco 400i as soon as possible, just in case I'm missing something. The Sym dealer is a Kymco dealer too! Wow!
He can get me a demo of either model if given enough time. Can't complain about that.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Decisions, Decisions...
data the kymco 400 will be so much more fun than the 600... yet if you want another tourer then the 600 would be better, the 400 kymco front end is radically better than before and the frame has been changed, yet not sure if i could live with the speedo setup... mr grumpy take your time in making choices you would be suprised to find out that what you have already is pretty cool.. and would do any muppet proud
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

You'll like the Xciting 400i. In a Spanish review they said that the closest thing to the 400i was the Tmax 530, as far as handling, braking, etc. The OTHER 400s (Xmax, SYM, Piaggio 350) weren't even in the same league...

+1 vote for this option. I've tried a couple out recently. The Haibike almost had me flexing my credit card immediately. Great fun and superb for anyone with dodgy knees or other health issues that make cycling unassisted unfeasible.MrGrumpy wrote:buy an electric pushbike or something for the very local trips!
