Had a few tootles on my new burger and comparing it(although it 3 years since I sold it) I have these comparisons......
the clutch seems to cut in and drop out at lower revs, not a bad thing on the whole but it may slow the acceleration rate from rest. Might be machine specific to a point. Seat feels higher, but as I'm over 6 ft tall and 34" inside leg, its of no significance to me. Boot is massive, lot bigger than my k6 model. Disappointed with the headlights, my k6 had both lights on dipped beam. Acceleration from 40 to 70 is certainly brisker. On the whole the facelift model is, in my opinion is better thanthe old model, it certainly looks a bigger bike. I think the best mechanical improvement is the valve clearence check from 4500 to 14500 miles, perhaps the worst is using disposable air filters. Biggest gripe is why diddnt the designers make the fuel tank a decent size.The computer, after 130 miles riding is showing 15.6 miles/litre......210 miles to a tank, make the tank useful for250 miles and then its a 200 mile between fill ups........
On the whole is it better........ boatloads from my mk1 250burger, lots better than my 400y version of the mk 1. And yes quite a bit from my k6 mark 2 burgler....... which means that I'm a happy lad. Happy days

Just back from the Forest of Dean on the Burgman400, left the Deauville at home. I get more impressed with the scoot on each tour. Eric your report is spot on.

I pondered getting a deauville but familiarity with the burgler won the day. I would imagine they fulfill a similar role but in a different way. What are the running costs for one Dave?

eric, you may need a service if you are only getting 15.6miles per litre after 130 miles. Of course it depends how hard you are riding, and the traffic, also the condition of your belt and rollers etc etc and at the moment you may be playing with the throttle a bit more as it's new to you. I never get less than 16 miles per litre if ridden hard. Mostly I get 16.6 to 17.5 on long runs depending on the roads and traffic conditions. That gives me a big range on a tankful. Supermarket fuel seems to give me less mpg though, as per Top Gear and 5th Gears analysis of fuels. Also don't use high octane fuels, it lowers your mpg and carbons up the exhaust valves on these Burgmans. Stick with regular for best mpg and performance. Agree, a slightly bigger tank would be nice but it's tight for space down there.

Mine has managed 16.4m/l over 7.5k and I do stretch the throttle cable on a regular basis, back tyre managed 8k but front is still going strong' the economy is superb. How effective is the Givi screen? To be honest I'm happy with the standard One and hand guards, you don't miss what you have never had.

Aye data, seller "serviced" it prior to delivery............ maybe dropped the oil and checked tyre pressures. Its been stood for quite a while and I've only done local trips at moment. With 3800 miles maybe it needs a bit of a caning to warm it up and blow the cobwebs off the engine. Happen it might get that this afternoon.
as for the screen, its adjustable so it can be positioned to the best place to stop wind buffering and, I havent had to yet, it can be lowered in warm weather when youre just cruising for max ventilation.
