Screen extension

Post by SOOTYGULL »

Does anyone recognise the screen extension syntec4 has ?

If you have used one or something similar, do they stay firmly attached and do you have to cut or drill the existing screen ?

Please would you share your experiences - good or bad !

Looks like an MRA X-Screen to me. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

I have used simular extensions before and found that you can use them to direct cooler air at you on hotter days as well as what they are designed for which is deflection . Yes they do work to a point of reducing turbulence around your head area ,but taking a screen off can do the same .Sometimes its been more cost effective and looked better to buy another screen imho .

I think he meant taking the screen off altogether.

Buy a bigger screen.

I've done this 3 times now for 3 scooters and would do it again too!

because you have a new scoot and you are a member for 12 months FREE kawasaki riders club

you get 10% off and think its free shipping .. its a no brainer really , unless you want to buy the extra kit needed for the MRA X-Creen so you can drill thr the standard screen so it wont come off, as this costs extra

been with my givi large screen now since new on the j300 and cant fault it, even the guy on long term j300 fitted it and swears by it http://www.visordown.com/road-tests/kaw ... 25428.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

so you buy direct from kawasaki and get 24 mths warranty http://kawasaki-shop.co.uk/p/windshield-j300?pp=24" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and get 10% off their listed price :D Simples
I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.

 Sometimes a shorter screen is a better option, it depends on your priorities (+ the shape of you and your bike)

I take the top section of my Givi airflow in very hot weather. It's lurvly.

Meldrew, I think he meant taking the screen off altogether can reduce turbulence around your helmet (and therefore noise)

I don't think it was being recomended as a course of action but he can answer for himself.

Weather protection and turbulence are different things, being able to just look over the top of a screen is perfect for weather protection, its also just about perfect for creating turbulence around your helmet.

Your experience with losing the top of the Givi on your Silverwing isn't a very good guide to what will happen with an even shorter screen/no screen. That is you, on a Silverwing with half a Givi. That Givi might gather up lots of air and debri and plonk it on your chest where a shorter/narrower screen puts more of it around the side.

Your Silverwing Givi and fairing is different to my Burgman so the results are different. It doesn't tell you what will happen with all Givis, never mind all bike/screen/no screen combinations.

To know if XYZ works, we need to know what bike it is going on and preferably the size of the rider and what they want to achieve.

Its actually more complex than that, as everyone has different views - what for one person can be a nice quiet unturbulent screen can to someone else be a a completely unprotective nightmare. I found the Tmax m3 standard screen to be utterly unbearably appalling, whilst someone else on here found it to be quite reasonable!
