Excited to be on here as I just passed my CBT and am keen to get a used S-Wing, and really cannot wait as I am travelling most of the Northern Line every day at the moment.
I am looking at an example which seems to have been well kept but am wondering what sort of mileage these things can go to as this one has 20k miles on it (asking price is around £1500). I am guessing that it will greatly depend on it having a good serviced history and a caring owner.
I would really appreciate any advice on mileage vs cost for these machines. There are a few really nice low mileage examples around £2500, would that be a better bet overall?
My plan is to see how it goes on the 125 and if it feels right maybe go for a full license next summer and move up to a proper Maxi in a year or so.

I would suggest that a newer one with ABS would be a better option for London.
Service interval is 2500 miles and its important the servicing has been done properly.

If your commuting within central London, look at getting an SH125, cheaper. easier to work on after 2007, slimmer, lighter and bigger wheels. I've owned both and really enjoyed the SH125 more when the going gets tough.

OK that's really interesting advice. My commute is 11 miles each way through London (South Wimbledon to Camden Town).
I will look into the SH as well. Thanks.

Newer SH125i also has ABS and can store a full face helmet under the seat, far better than the previous version

The S-wing is a great bike, I think it is comfier and has better road presence than the SH125. Both are good, depends on your priorities

The Honda dealer could not find a helmet that could fit under the SH seat, but it does have more space, if you are going to park in the street, it is much easier to find a slot for an SH, with less sticky out paneling to worry about. I like the way Honda have gone with the engine design, a side bolted on radiator to the engine, which frees up space and saves having water pipe tubing and hoses.

Having had 2 Elystars, which were very similar in concept to the S-Wing, I would say stick with Plan A.

BTW, it was the Central Line that put me on 2 wheels, way back at the turn of the century,

I Am on No. 3 now.Thats 3 Honda SH125,S Brilliant all you need in London.And if things go a different way next year.Could be further afield.
