Hi all

I tried out a 2012 Burgman 400z abs on Saturday and was very impressed with it.
It's a 62 plate 1 owner with 3,900 miles and just out of warranty - has 3 months guarantee through the dealer
They've offered me £1900 for my Swing (2013 1 owner 10,000 miles) which is a very good offer I think.
My question to you guys is:

Does this sound a good deal to you?
Would you opt for a 2-year warranty @ £250 or chance it?

Colour is a lovely metallic grey - much better than the usual white or black & it has the hand guards, heated grips & pillion backrest
Thanks in advance for your help

Hi pete, I recently bought a 61 burger 400, in the same grey with 3900 miles on. Just 3 yrs old. Offered with 30 days warranty but would , like you, give me 2 yrs for the same price. The warranty cover was limited when examined so I declined. I made enqs with warranty direct and got a far more comprehensive cover for a lot les dosh., give em a bell and tell em what youve been offered but perhaps stretch the truth as much as you dare.
enjoy the bike, normally pretty bulletproof. Its my 3rd burger

Without knowing the prurchase price of the Burgman its impossible to tell if its a good deal or not.

Life is too short to worry about small things ~ Go for it Pete, they are reliable bikes... Bought my 400 K8 in August last - then went and had heart attack! A nasty one to boot! But I'm riding again now and loving the Burgie, I previously had a Helix from new in '90 and only did 7000 miles on it, I didn't like it from the first day I rode it because it always wanted to fall to the left when let go the bars, Complained to HONDA UK who tried others out of the crate, they said they're all the same and "Don't ride with hands off the bars because it's dangerous"

Burgie's much better in this respect, just waiting for better weather.

Your comparing the first maxi scooter which led the way 25 years ago to latest models .Might surprise you lot of them still running and on the road .

Some real characters amongst the owners too!

Pete, how do you feel about the Burgy, if you like it, it has got some good desirable extras, at the end of the day only you can make the decision.

Thanks guys - price of the Burgman is £4,000 and yes it feels 'right' for me to make the switch from me 125 right now.
Good tip re warranty Eric - will certainly check that out
Like your style Vozza & Jimo - you're both right, it's only money at the end of the day.
Good shout pikey - when I first past my test back in 2003 I'd made up my mind to buy a Burger 400 but was coaxed into getting a cb500 - now I've got my bandit to do the high speed stuff in the good weather I think I'm going to go for this burgman for my commute. I noticed how plentiful & cheap parts appear to be and, with you guys to help me with maintenance & servicing advice I'm sure it'll be fine.
Watch this space!

The Burgman 400 and (Z ABS) is a very good maxi scooter. It's easy to maintain and here are maintenance videos from Mitch (a deaf chap) in the USA

Sounds like a good offer to me, but try to squeeze them for some accessories or discount etc.
Wouldn't bother with the warranty, use the money for servicing instead.
