Seems something may have been disturbed during maintenance. Need to go through all the connections. I presume the side stand and the brake switches are OK?

I don't think it's the plug.

i bought a new battery for the nexus a few years back, rode it for two weeks then went to start it,all lights came on etc etc etc no joy just the click..... you start to look everywhere, a couple of weeks passed, as i was going on holiday, came back and phoned the breakdown people, the guy jump started (piggy backed my battery) and it started straight away... so it was the new battery that was knackered..... lesson here is the battery might show to have volts but no cranking amps, so before you start to dismantle any more, get some jump leads from a mates car (engine not running on car) to your scoot then try again to start the scoot. if the scoot starts, you either have a knackered battery..... OR as you may find that the reason IS
the battery might not be knackered ( just run down) but the generator or regulator is at fault for not charging the battery when riding, so if you get it started then you need a multimeter on your battery, needs to show above/at least 12.6 volts dc at tick over and 14.5 volts at steady 3/4000 rpm

by the way welcome lad

As Michael says it really does sound like a faulty/flat battery. Or, and I'm not even sure if there is one, it could be the starter relay either playing up, knackered or just loosely connected. Again or, check the main earth to make sure that's not loose or corroded.

DITTO AS ABOVE, (ooops cap lock on) if the scoot was turning over and not starting that is another issue entirely , but not turning over needs to start with basics first

For a numpty, why not have the car motor running when jump starting a scoot?

just for safety really, as someone may have it running before applying the jump leads and the scoot switched on, its suprising what some folk do, save you blowing fuses on the scoot, the cranking amps of a car battery is way over the cranking amps needed for a scooter so dont need to be boosted like you do car to car..
and the jumping leads put Positive on first good battery then flat battery car +.... then negative on good battery then fit the negative to the flat battery car on the engine metal, eg engine block etc (everyone sticks it on the negative battery terminal) dont know whats the difference :?: then reverse order when taking off
