Well done Alan it's good to visit these places .On Vespa Rally last year lot of Brits had a ride to a public cemetery just out side Mantova where there was just 3 Brit war graves .We had to ask staff where it was took bit of time for them to work out what we were looking for but they took us to it .I wondered if any of the family had ever been as it was it Italy about 30 mile south of Verona so not a place you can just nip and see.Anyway Vespa club Britain laid some flowers had 2 min silence for them .

My leg is ok , i have pulled my back, its still a bit stiff but getting better,

I always get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye whenever I visit any of the War Cemeteries or to Ypres.

Nice video Alan. I'm still hopeful of a trip to the Menin Gate, maybe next year. (Might get a bit sniffley when they play the Last Post - still gets to me 40 years after 'demob'!)

I'm reading a book at the moment called Forgotten Voices of The Somme, taken from taped interviews with survivors of the battle. The thing I find amazing is the way they followed orders, without question, even when they knew it was near-suicidal. I can't imagine today's similar age group doing that.

Yes i have got a lot of free time but not so many pennies

I get very thoughtful whenever I visit any site of great sacrifice. I hope it is never forgotten.
I,for one, hope we never ever have the situation where young people blindly follow orders again.

Many things are worth defending but only when we know what we are being asked to do and why. Certainly never to defend the lifestyles of a certain class or elite.
