Sorry chaps silly question but not having worked on a Burgman 400 before how much of the plastic has to come off to change the plug? I've had a search around the internet and some say just the left leg shield, others have said only the cover just below the seat. :? Can some enlighten me please?

Thanks BB

I suspect it's very different from ny old '99 model so I won't comment.

The manual should be of some help though, and if you don't have one, there is a world of Burgman manuals, parts books etc. in here.

you need to take off the bit of tupperware that looks the shape of a smile, if you look under the front of the seat in the centre thats the middle of the smile shape, which runs both side of the under seat area, with seat raised you may see them better, the air filter cover might have to come off too, just screws, i think you might have to take off the rear passenger foot rests with a socket (around size 10mm ish) then when this is off you have access to the variator side of scoot for changing plug, tight squeeze so dont drop the plug as there is a tray under the scoot and its a bugger to fish it out

In the owners manual, if you have one, it's just the panel under the front of the seat. As said, it's best to take off the air filter cover. With the seat up you can see it fine. The plug is then very easy to get to.

Went to collect the air filter this afternoon, confirmed it was there yesterday and reserved it, when I got there was told it hadn't arrived from the stores, not a happy bunny :( really hacks me off, won't be using them again....... They offered to send one to me but I've now found another supplier just got to wait a few more days.....

The plug change took about 1½ hours as the leg shield did have to come off, just couldn't get to the plug otherwise. Amazingly I didn't break any of the push pin rivets.

Whilst I had the plastic off I noticed that there are two small diameter hoses from underneath the air cleaner housing (being a complete numpty i think that is what it is) that have perished and should probably be replaced, couldn't get my sausage fingers in to remove them otherwise I would have used some silicone 'rescue tape' to make a temporary repair. Can anyone tell me whether they are they drain hoses or breathers please?

Thanks BB
