Triumph Motorcycles has confirmed that they will attempt to set a new land speed record with Guy at the controls of the 1,000 bhp, methanol fuelled Triumph Streamliner powered by two Rocket III engines. Guy will attempt to break the current record in August over at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
"I like going fast, proper fast. So pushing 400mph sounds like just the job. Breaking the world land speed record isn't normally the sort of thing you get offered in your tea break is it and I'm well up for it. Bringing the record back to Britain would be mega too. Spot on, lets get cracking." (GM)
Channel 4 will be following Guy's record attempt - more information to follow.

The Word "Awesome" get used far too much for trivial items...
It's the only word that comes to mind looking at Guy in it with the canopy on!
I look forward to watching the programme. A million miles away from old Burt Munro!

Wasnt James Toseland supposed to be doing something like this?
Interesting read Might be that they are having problems finding £400.000 sponsorship money, where presumably Triumph have been able to do it "in house", time will tell I guess
Guy: "That’s the testing week for the Triumph streamliner over and like I said earlier in the week, it’s gone according to plan. I got the hang of steering the thing pretty quickly, then it was a case of building up speed. Wind is the big thing out here, so it’s not a case of just jumping in a twisting the throttle. We chipped away and early on Tuesday morning we did 274.2mph, making it the fastest ever Triumph. Everyone was dead happy, but that’s just one step to where we want to be. The current record is 376.36mph, so a way to go yet.â€ÂÂ
