oil leak from a used burmgan buyer
oil leak from a used burmgan buyer
Hi i would just like to quickly introduce myself and say i just bought a 1998 burgman an 250 133000 miles seems i bought it with an issue yes oil leak! displaying itself by dripping on to the side stand when its tucked up under the engine its not a flood but how long its been like that i dont know as the owner had it SORN but the underneath engine has been spayed with oil over time and theres fresh stuff from a 1 hour ride back. do burgmans suffer from well known oil leaks? the only stuff i read so far of oil leaks on the net is from the 650 water pump seal engine side which of course would involve re-building it with new seal kit and having special tools to do this if you can get at it that is....i might be wrong and its something else but im looking at the worse senario and reasoning this is why the guy got rid. so any thoughts about where it might be coming from and anything else really of use for a new rider of a burgman who finds just replacing the spark plug frustrating thanks and hello to everyone out there maybe i could take some pics of the oil leak area for others to enjoy

Welcome! Don't take this the wrong way, but if you find changing a spark plug frustrating then I think keeping that scooter on the road will be very hard work indeed. Even if all the previous owners have maintained it meticulously it's going to be pretty comprehensively worn out at that mileage.
My advice would be to sell it while its still running, and get something with a lot less miles on the clock; as well as the AN250 you could also look at the 250 Majesty (there's one for sale on here for £750) and Piaggio Hexagon (the Honda engined 250 is best) - decent scooters all, and won't break the bank if you're on a tight budget.
