Newbie in Spain

Hi all, I've just moved to sunny Spain and am thinking of getting a maxi-scoot cause it's bloody impossible to park a car here on the coast...everyone and his dog has a scooter here so why not me ? I can ride a 125cc here on a UK car license. There seem to be a lot of xmax's here but I like the look of the piaggio x8 I saw today.I'ts got a big ass and so can be seen. I'm not really bothered by economy or top speed but would like something quick off the mark. Also i'm 14.5 stone so i'd look a bit of a dick on something small. Good luggage space is vital as well. Your suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Would be looking to spend around £1700

Hello and welcome Señor. My dream to do what you are doing, if only SWMBO would agree, I too would get a scooter there.
As you say Spain use lots of scooters and have a far greater brand selection. I would do what you are already doing and check out what 125's the locals are riding along with a dealership near you.

Thanks for your replies gents..Yes it's lovely here for a scooter, they just pull up where they need to be and leave it on the pavement. I think I'll go back to UK for a week buy a scoot and take a cbt.May even ride it back to Spain

I know you are allowed 6 months but I read one post that eventually registering a UK scooter to Spanish plates was going to be very expensive? I would consider buying one local. I'm to believe in Spain as you stated, you can ride a 125cc on a full car license with no CBT?

Xmax 125 is quickish, big-ish and loads of storage... dont think the x8 is gonna be far off, and will survive the weather there rather than here in blighty as most piaggios end up looking rough after a few years... honda swing 125?
And welcome

The Kymco Downtown / Super Dink 125i is a great Scooter. Very popular in Spain with a good dealer network
