welcome lad, post in relevent section the problem with year of scoot etc, will get a responce there

I cant seem to remember.. I don't know where I'm going, but I'm on my way.
Re: im old but new ..so to speak
Be better if you worked out actual fuel in litres to top back up rather than half a tank as fuel gauges not that accurate.
Re: im old but new ..so to speak
If its an old 400 60 mpg is about the norm depending on how you ride it .
Re: im old but new ..so to speak
Fuel gauges are mostly just decorative foibles.
Brim tank, note mileage or zero trip, ride, brim tank again, calculate consumption from distance travelled and fuel added.

Re: im old but new ..so to speak
On the J300 the normal range is about 175 miles when the last segment is flashing at me and I think I get somewhere around 75mpg. With the gauge split into 5 sections you would guess that each would go at 35 miles. No, way out: the first disappears at 80 miles. Go figure.
So on my experience it looks as though yours is possibly the other way around in that your first segments disappear pretty fast and then maybe the last ones hang on for a good while. Dunno, but I thought I would offer this as a possible answer.

Agreed - my Silverwing takes half a tankful to move down one block on the fuel gauge and the second half to do the other five.
Unnerving at first but I'm used to it now.
