Just been to the local dealer to see my new machine for the first time. It is going to be unpacked this afternoon and then have its PDI. I'm actually going to pick it up on Thursday ready for a run to Southwold on Saturday. :D The excitement of getting a new machine never seems to diminish.

What colour are you getting? Tempting with their 48 month 0% finance offer and only £249 deposit but at nearly £9k otr (I know some dealers have them discounted also) it's a lot of money, especially when I got my new 2011 L1 B650 for £6999 otr.

Brilliant white, looks absolutely fabulous. No finance, no trade in, so got £1000 of list price.

That's brilliant. White is the one I like the best too.

PJ just a little head up if I may, I don't know if you've had the 650 before but I'd point you in the direction of the owners manual regarding the running in process. Zuki don't like you to overstress the CVT belt during the running in process. There is a bit in the manual about this. I've actually replaced two belts now on these six fiddies that failed at 39 and 45k respectively. One of those bikes had been hard run in and the other I didn't find out how it had been run from new. However, there is a general consensus amongst techs that most of the bikes that get early CVT failure are bikes that have been run in the Motoman way (that's the hard run way using up to full throttle and high torque) and this heats and stresses the metal belt causing early fatigue and failure. Avoid that if you can and you'll get a bike that lasts and lasts and won't use any oil. I ran one of our company 650's in from new and it went on to cover 80,000 miles when I last saw it without any problems. I used the book method of running in as per Suzuki's recommendations. Great bikers. Have fun and post often about your exploits.

Thanks Data, helpful advice for new owners, however this is my third 650. I always run the machine in as per manufacturers recommendations. My old machine is with my niece already. I'm going to show the new one off to her on the way back from Southwold.

Agree! Got one with just over 1500mi and followed the book thoroughly. If I remember correctly, it's up to 4000rpm during the first 500 miles, 6000 over the first 800 and beyond 1000 no limit. Basically what I've done is not use the manual or power mode for first stint
