There wasn't any traffic behind so if he stopped behind Fishy would have been guaranteed getting through the lights and could then have passed the car at his leisure.
Odd that Fishy comments on purple cars wanting to be in front when it was him who effectively jumped a red light to get in front of a purple car...?
Maybe Fishy just likes having purple things up his arse
