Matlock Bath. Mar 6th.

Post by ginge »

Don't know if you are aware. But Matlock Bath intend to introduce a parking fee for two wheeled vehicles. A protest ride is being organised for the 6th March. Have no other details at this time.

They were going to introduce charges a few years ago but an online petition changed the councils minds.
I'm not sure a mass demo will endear bikers to the locals and anyway,,
I think they only want to charge 50p an hour for bikes so it's not actually a big deal.I've had enough of it after a pounds worth.
You have to pay in the car park at the Station. And at the one by the Fishpond.
Where you put your ticket on a bike, without it getting nicked, will be a problem!

Matlock Bath is a convenient meeting place because it's widely known, but it's nowt special. Another idea would be to stop going once parking charges are introduced; if everyone does it they'll soon drop the idea, and if not there's plenty of other, more interesting places where it's free to park.

'Where you put your ticket on a bike, without it getting nicked, will be a problem!' (Sorry, don't know how else to quote.)

I have found if I put the ticket just inside the glovebox then close and lock the lid on it, leaving the time etc visible the ticket cannot be removed without tearing it and rendering it useless.

As to the protest ride, I can't make it as I am at work. Shame, as Matlock is a quite nice part of the country.

They had these in Chesterfield "Donut" car park for a time but they were withdrawn for some reason. Cost??
Or more likely, too complicated for us Derbyshire people to input the details! :D
