recall on burgman 400

Post by Nicola756 »

Just noticed this being discussed on burgmanusa.

There's a recall out on the 400s made between 2008-2012 - possible problems with the reg/rec circuit board.
I've been on the suzuki site to check the vin and mine (a 2011 bike) is included :(

On well, I'm getting new tyres fitted in a couple of days so I'll talk to the guys about it then. Also the 14500 mile service is getting close so it's looking like an expensive year for me!

Apologies if it's already been posted...

Nic

It sadly appears this recall includes a large number of the Suzuki range.

Please let us know how much your service was as the 15000 includes valve clearances if I recall

Yep my 2012 400z abs is included in the recall too. Just sent a request to Suzuki for replacement of the rectifier.

Called into Bill Smiths in Chester to ask about the recall - the bike is now booked in to have the work done in a couple of weeks time. The service guy reckoned it should take an hour or so to do so thats all seems to be straightforward. They are doing the work from 1st March and could have fitted me in next week if I wanted.

Also, planning ahead a bit, I asked him about the cost for the major service. He said it would be around the £300 mark and yes that is the valve checks and new drive belt included. Pleasantly surprised, thought they would charge much more. Although he did say, just be grateful its a 400 ive got as the 650 is a b*****r to work on and costs a small fortune!

Hope this helps!

Do suzuki/dvla inform owners of recalls or do we just have to find out ourselves ?

curzon, you will get a letter but you can pre-empt that by just going into your dealer and asking him to check your VIN to see if you are affected (you will be most likely). Or, you can just put your VIN number into the Suzuki GB website here: https://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/motorcycles/my-suzuki/vin/

It will tell you if work is required. You can then just phone your dealer to get it arranged.

Had my rectifier replaced under warranty due to the recall. Orwell M/C carried out the work and it took less than an hour. Great dealer by the way.
