Can anyone tell me if Ledude's instructions for removing the Tupperware on a 650 a will work for a 400 please?

It's a different machine, i would have thought the fasteners will be in different places. But, you only have to give it a good looking at

Hi.

I don't actually know what I thought, I was just curious to know if the fittings for the plastic panels was the same for both bikes. I was very grateful for the links you posted and I'm sure they will be extremely useful, but I did notice several mentions of Ledude's tutorials while browsing these boards so I googled them and I liked the way they were presented. I intend removing some panels on my scooter so I just thought I would ask if the 650 instructions would work on the 400 in this instance, then I could refer to either or both. I'm not the quickest of learners as you can probably guess, so I need all the help I can get. I hope you don't think I was being disrespectful.

Thank you Mr D, though in fairness to bornagainbiker the Mitch tutorials are excellent. I watched one today to find out how to remove the passenger back rest so that I can fit a top box.

To fit a box I needed a piece of replacement trim but Suzuki wanted almost £100 for it which was a bit too much a man of my limited means, so on the off chance I had a ride around the local dealers to see if anyone had one lying around the workshop. It was a long shot I know but the second place I tried had just fitted a back rest to a 2015 B400 and had the exact part I wanted going spare. It was the right colour and everything. Talk about lucky...

After a bit of faffing about, I've worked out how to make the universal mount from a top box I already have fit. A quick trip to Go Fixings in Hinckley for some bolts tomorrow and I should be ready to rock and roll.

I've worked my way through almost all the posts in the Burgman section now. (What I lack in knowledge I make up for in enthusiasm) I loved the ones describing your early ownership. Your excitement was tangible.

BTW- I was fascinated by your story about the two test-bed engines and the benefits of synthetic oil. That said, both the dealers I visited today recommended semi-synthetic. One actually advised against fully synthetic.

My 400y has had most of the panels off and its a mixture of self tapping screws, 6mm screwhead bolts and push release plastic trim clips. The panels do have lugs on them to hold them to each other. My advice would be to look for any obvious bolts clips or screws and remove them then try removing a panel - you can usually feel if there is something holding it in place still then investigate further. The clips and lugs are fairly robust but will break if pulled too hard in the wrong direction.
