windscreen help

Hi guys,

It seems like all I ever do is ask for help

Before I bought my B400 I had a test ride on one with a stock screen and it was horrible (IMHO).

The scoot I eventually bought has a Givi tall, one piece screen that is absolutely wonderful, warm, quiet, in fact everything that I could want except.... I have to look through it.

I thought I would get used to it but to be honest, it's not happening. I feel like I'm missing something, like I'm isolated from the environment.

I think I would like to try a Givi Airflow, but I've never actually seen one in the flesh. £150 ish is a lot for my limited budget and I'm worried that I won't like it. I mean, it seems obvious that if I get one and set it up so that I can look over it it won't be as warm/quiet as the current tall one.

What do you think? Is there anyone who lives within striking distance of Hinckley (say around an hour or so) that has a Burgman with one fitted that they would be prepaired to let me come and look at, or perhaps even sit on?

All opinions welcome.

Tom.

I had the same problem ,solved it by cutting the screen down until I could just see over it, if you don't fancy cutting your screen get a piece of Perspex and play about with that you can drill it so it fits your bike , then cut it with a thin bladed angle grinder

Was your wind noise / buffeting increased much by cutting it below eye level?

i always prefer adding an MRA-X-CREEN to a standard screen, keep looking for a used on, new they are £79 prefer the clip on type as can be transfered to another ride but they do bolt thru ones as well, anyways my two penneth worth http://www.bikehps.com/acatalog/MRA_X-c ... #aCOL59188

Thanks. That does look like an elegant solution but I really like the way the Give keeps the wind off my hands.

I think trimming will do the job. It's never good to try looking through a screen on a bike. I have always cut mine with an electric jig saw after covering it with masking tape.
If the worst comes to the worst and you cut it down too much you can always fit a "lip" like previously suggested.
There are some on eBay for about 50 quid.

Well after a very unsettled day weather wise, we had a couple of gloriously sunny hours this evening, so I decided to try and replicate what it would be like if I cut my screen down, so found a cushion that raised me up to the point where the screen was just below my eyeline and went for a ride around.

Now while it was very nice to be looking over the screen, there was considererably more wind noise. Perhaps more than I'm prepaired to accept if I'm honest.

Then again, it was nice looking over the screen....

Is there another option? I wonder if a Givi Airflow would be as quiet just below eye level as the tall Givi is above it?

Decisions decisions...

dont take this the wrong way but the givi airlow dont look great on a burg with the screen at the angle back to the rider . take a look at next to last photo here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-AN400- ... Sw8RJXBYHW
i am looking to get the mra vario off a bike specific screen which was added, then take off thevario off the bought screen, as these tend to go cheaper, as these are movable up down and in/out vario`s you can suit your needs better, well this is my reasoning :)
