Back to scootering for my commute
Back to scootering for my commute
Did a year commuting on a SYM HD200 which did a great job of 6000+ miles a year commute changed to Nc750 and now Bmw r1200rt. Considering a Yamaha xmax 300 to commute on and keep the BMW for touring. Need info first. This seems a good place to start

Re: Back to scootering for my commute
A pretty good choice for commuting I'd say. Certainly more suited to it than a big heavy (and thirstier) R1200RT. Keep the Beemer for touring as you say.
Re: Back to scootering for my commute
RT has been great commuting tool. Far better than expected. Weather protection is great. Only getting 50mpg though so looking for another scoot instead. The RT will be used for long runs and fast rides

Re: Back to scootering for my commute
Welcome. Yup, 103mpg showing on my 30 mile commute from Essex into London-Victoria this morning. Probably helped by a clear run through the Rotherhithe Tunnel, but still - bloomin' impressive.
Downsides of Xmax 300 though: some don't get on with the seating/feet position, main beam extremely poor (dip is fine), no curry hook (gasp!!), errr.. Otherwise, damn fine scoot and 300 is the sweet spot for commuting, I'd say.

Re: Back to scootering for my commute
The Forza can do 100mpg on a gentle country bimble. But more likely 75-85 with my riding.

Re: Back to scootering for my commute
I'm getting 2.8l/100km which is 101mpg. On a trip to Sicily in May the consumption went down to 2.5l/100km which is 113mpg with Givi top box and fully loaded under the seat but that was on uninterrupted country roads. Still, it's a very economical machine, more than I expected. Currently ridden nearly 4000km.
