Hi All,
Thinking about getting another scoot and have seen a 2001 400 Burgman locally. It been stored for a year so has no MOT but he bought a new battery and it fired straight up and runs okay. Only known fault is " digital fuctions not working, however speedo and fuel gage working as they should. " Drive train was replaced in 2016 ( i assume that means belt and rollers?)
I'm thinking it might be worth a punt and will hopefully view it over the weekend. I know nothing of Burgers though, are they know for any faults or anything I should look out for or check?
Many thanks.

Its a bit old!!!! Suzuki gradually got the faults out of them as time went on, and gradually improved the spec. I seem to recall that there were some issues, with spline drives failing, poor design of variator etc

It is indeed. I have a KTM Duke, but am having some surgery done and the riding position of the burger will suit me better, so as its local, its worth a look at. Plus, to be honest, I miss an auto and load carrying capacity!MrGrumpy wrote: Thu Jan 24, 2019 1:15 pm Its a bit old!!!! Watch out there's a Pikey about, but seriously he has had a few so could impart his wealth of knowledge. I had a 2009 one, because by then it was a sorted scoot.
Nice to see you back, hope the health issues get sorted for you soon.

Fact there's still 1999 ones running around is testimony enough .Just be aware some parts not available new now but loads of used and after market parts .I was after good carb one or early 385 injected under a grand ended up with high mile K7 for same money .

I think that that's a good point. The somewhat better 2007/8 models must be getting pretty cheap by now - maybe not £500 cheap, but maybe not a huge amount more.
