Except being a dealer isn't a salaried ob is it? It's a commercial business with overheads, staff and taxes to pay etc etc I've spoken at length with JT who used to run Piaggio Centre as to how dealerships work and just how little margin there is. I used to buy into the whole dealer=stealer thing years ago but more knowledge has changed my opinion.

I don't know, maybe it's just me getting old but the details don't bother me any longer, either. When buying a bike I ask one question, "How much will I pay?" (or if I'm part exchanging, "How much to swap?") I either like the answer and take the deal or I don't and I walk away. It does require setting of the scene to make it clear that I don't haggle.

I tend to do business the same way, too, from the other side. I give customers a price. I don't break down costs so they can penny pinch, I don't haggle and it's a take-it-or-leave-it situation.

I find that it makes life so much simpler. I know it's different for some folk because they want finance, and the best finance deal can wipe the floor with anything else. If I wanted finance the same criteria would apply, a simple, "How much will I pay?" and the decision is either yay or nay.

This. My OH bought a 2YO Panda from the nearby Fiat dealers last year. After the price had been agreed, at the paper-signing stage they tried to stick a £150 'admin' fee onto the final bill. They were told in no uncertain terms that if it didn't disappear we would disappear to the Suzuki dealers and buy the Jimny we'd seen earlier! It was removed and no more was said.

It's gouging, pure and simple.

I'd have done the same. That's why my simple question works.

If the price they want you to pay is the same as the answer they gave you, buy it.

If the price differs from their answer to the question, walk away.

Getting the new scooter is your best defence against Covid-19.

Take 2 weeks out to ride it every day, and that's 14 days of self isolation.

Picked up the new SH125 today...
Town ride back from Dobles showes
Feels a little roomier...
Front bodywork is a little further forward... more leg and feet room...
Bars seem a little lower...
Screen a little lower...
Breakfast Sandwich at the 'Spoons...
Home for more of a look over
Then 40 mile amble taking in some country lanes etc...
Engine is smooth, spritly 'n keen, just got to be patient... its only a 125...
Saw 55mph briefly but taking it easy running in etc...
Seat is a bit firmer, flatter and a little more room given to the rider...
Ride is typical 'Sh'
Nothing quite like the ride of a new bike...
New tyres roll in to corners so nicely, brakes need a little more bedding in...
Likes my new Sh...

On?
looks? price? functions?

Looks - A bit softer than the outgoing model... and a bit 'Limousine' styling with the wide slender lights, and chrome bits and blck accent pannels, more so the rear lights, a bit more grown up looking than the Magna style edgy sporting styled scoots...
Price - Not a lot more than the outgoing model £50... discounts on a new old model - £400ish
My old one was the model before that - Non LED, non Smart Key... wasnt missing that much, so never changed...
Cost to change is my decider...
Function - Rides like an Sh, but quite a lot of change going on really...
