Relatively new rider here. Currently on a piaggio Medley which I'm enjoying very much.

I'm using it solely for a commute of about 7 miles within zones 1-2 London. Might one day look at longer trips but for now it's pretty much just for nipping around and getting to work.

Welcome. For a 7 mile commute you don't need a big machine unless you need to carry lots of "stuff". Enjoy the ride!
