Not sure any look like a new J300 though.

I dont think kawasaki care much about scoots, the J300 being only really a box ticker,

But the motorbikes are quite good

A shame, because the J300 was the best looking and best to ride machine I've had. I'd happily have another if they at least upgraded the engine to match the Xmax's economy.

That j300 was all kymco made?

With regard to economy, I put between £5 & £8 of petrol in it every now and again, the amount is so trivial as to be not worth actually working out the mpg figure.....!

The mirrors ( with R & G extenders) mean I can actually see behind me, unlike a Forza ( )

And it comes with an integral rear rack for the top box......

And last time I looked ( this morning !), it appears to be more powerful than an Xmax or a Forza.

And I like the look of it, and people often admire it when I am out on it, which is strange to me as I am a biker really....!

It was based on the Downtown but Kawasaki made many, many changes. A mate had a Downtown when I had my J300 and we compared them side by side. The J300 was superior by far.

When I had it the J300 returned 76mpg, my Xmax 95mpg (same power output) and my current Forza does 88mpg (lower power than the others).

The J300 engine also suffers from ridiculous service intervals of 3k miles whereas the Forza is on 8k

So yes, whilst the J300 is a fine scooter, it has been left behind in certain respects hence my being happy to have one is the engine were updated.

The service interval is of no concern to me as I am a leisure rider doing less than 3k per annum anyway. The gearbox takes a dribble of oil put in with a syringe, takes 15 minutes at most, the engine oil change takes about the same time, a Hi Flo filter costs less than a fiver and it's a couple of litres of oil.

I change both once a year which I would do whatever stupid interval they specify.

The only upgrade it needs is LED headlights....

Otherwise a cracking little bike, don't just follow the herd......

I just dont think Kawasaki care too much about it, as it is a reskinned Kymco

When I went to a dealer about it a few years ago, they just told me to phone up if I wanted to order one.

Yes, that was similar to my experience too - they were only interested in anything that went very fast.

In fact, when they first imported the J300, they totally misread the market and ordered only non-ABS machines from the manufacturer (cos real bikers don't need that nanny stuff, eh?). Sales were non-existent until the got their hands on the handsome SE models with ABS.

Of course selling loads of cheap scoots could probably finance the fast toy hobby but hey, what do I know?
