One wonders why BMW has such extraordinary service costs. As far as I know, there is nothing particularly special about the C400's engineering. Does it use Chanel No5 instead of oil in its sump? Or have special filters made of pure gold?

As a regular buyer of two-wheelers I've always had an open mind when making buying decisions. As recently as last year a BMW was near the top of my possibles list and I made an enquiry following up a dealer advertisement. They ( a local dealer) didn't get back to me but a year later I am still getting spam emails from BMW's marketing system. This sums up the reason I have never actually bought one. An added irony is that a significant chunk of my pension is paid by BMW thanks to a deal made when they took over various parts of Land Rover and British Leyland. I also hold a BMW (car) technicians award so I am generally quite well disposed towards the company.

I don’t really know how bmw can justify charging £1000+ for the 12K service - I mean it’s just a bog standard engine with cvt transmission - I would be confident about purchasing a c400x however I’d be doing all of the servicing myself

Thanks for bringing my attention to the service costs on here everybody.I was looking at buying a C400GT on a pcp deal as starting a new job next week but with those costs they can go and jump.Think i will stick with a Honda but new ones are so hard to find plus i want to get rid of my Forza 300 first.Dealers offered me a price which is what the GFV value is on it in 14 months time. How do they work that out?
