Hello long time no post...I need some help, a mate of mine is thinking of buying a 125 scooter I have the Honda SH300 but he's looking at 125 just to get to work 5 KM each way and the odd weekend bimble 2 up on the weekend so I said look at the SH 125 ABS version as its just as big as mine so 2 up around the country lanes will cope well...and they go on for ever...So what do you think am I advising him well?

It'll no doubt perform that sort of work perfectly well, but I didn't think the SH was big enough for one, let alone 2!!!

Hi Terry, hope all is well. How big is your mate, ? the sh 125 is very capable but 2 big people may push the suspension to its limits easily. Dont forget me and Angela rode round Malta on a vision 110. Good job Angie isn't as big as me!! I recon they need to sit on a few scoots and do a bit of research.Yam, SYM, Kymco ect, all good 125 scoots.

Been out for a liitle ride on my '20 SH125 today (was the NC750 X turn yesterday)... now at 1750 miles in 9 months...
Lockdown has defo cut down the commuting miles. Would usually be covering about 7000 miles a year...

2-up riding aside, i'd probably be considering a bicycle at 5km each way and save the pennies, environment and your health! depends largely what are they used to and what they'll put up with? Maybe even one of those new fangled electric scoots. Have a sh300 also and the frame and suspension will cope just fine but won't be as comfy as say a burgman, majesty, silverwing etc . whats his budget and is he looking to buy new, PCP etc? any leg problems that prevent him from swinging a leg over? a cracking yumtree or bay special may swing the deal! is it a 5km commute with wall to wall traffic with lots of filtering? if so the narrowness and upright riding position of the SH/vespa style helps compared to the large rake and feet forward maxis like the majesties etc at the expense of underseat luggage space. thats not to say its not possible, just not as easy. I've done plenty of 2-up riding in Asia on 110 large wheel underbones/scooters and they cope fine. Good luck to your friend.

Can I ask how close to your face a tall screen on the SH 125/300 is? It looks pretty near to me.

Do you bang your visor on it occasionally?

Close... and Yup... when i lean forward,
Particularly the flip up chin piece when err.... flipped up.
The 2020 model /screen seems a little lower than the 2015 version... by an inch of so...

I cut my screen down quite considerably and I fitted longer bolts/screws/washers to tilt the screen forward about 2 inches at the point (top) where the helmet would normally hit it, being a short arse it would normally hit the screen when waiting to pull away from the curb and turning my head to look back it makes you turn the handlebars as you look and when you go to pull away you turn your head and smack the screen
