Warm jacket for under £100?

Ok so I finally got a scooter (BV 350)

All my gear is rubbish. I have a couple of old Musto rain jackets and one warm one which were fine on the lickle Honda Vision at up to about 50 mph but I just went out on the BV and as soon as you get above 60 the Musto warm jacket blows up like a hot air balloon. :D

I just need something warm and water proof that does not allow air in underneath so it blows up like a tent. Confused and bamboozled by the array of biker jackets or even ski jackets out there within my budget. The second problem is that I am quite a lardy git at 18 stone with a 50" chest and a gut to match.

Not particularly bothered about an armoured jacket and wondered about a thermal ski jacket but I think the issue might be is these like my Musto coat are maybe too long and prone to the wind getting in them.

Any thoughts?

.....unsure whereabouts you are,but i kinda always head towards J & S Accessories,12 miles from me in Northampton is their main warehouse in Finedon,i am also a Frank Thomas fan and have had a few jackets of that name over the years at reasonable prces from J & S,you should be able to get yourself kitted out there, especially if you are a standard size.

Thanks. I think I will struggle up here for a walk in store. Im right at the top of the North Yorkshire Dales so nearest j&S is 60-70 miles away and I am not a standard size. Size Fat! Will have a look at their online stuff. I think Sportsbike online do free returns so that might have to be the way to go.

Most bike shops sell gear as well . Find the nearest and check to see what they have , and you can try one on ....covid permitting .

what using a rain gear jacket/pants? cheapest way and useful for rain as well. not sexy in terms of fashion but a must have for riding, besides a good textile/leather jacket with some armour inside. like pair that frogg toggs sell

I did wonder about just rain gear (waterproofs) and some thermal stuff underneath perhaps. Its hopefully going to be summer soon but we had a 15-20 mile ride out yesterday in about 9c and we were both a bit chilly. My hands were fine as I have heated grips but I could feel my body starting to get fairly cold and my knees even worse which is bad news as I have really bad Arthritis. The legs I can sort as Ill just where some thermals and stuff but the main thing with the jacket is I need something that wont blow up like a Balloon while offering some wind and weather protection. Its going to be a PIA for me as there are just no big dealers anywhere near here.

Got it down to one of these I think. They do free returns so if its no good or it doesnt fit I can easily send it back. I think the first one sounds good, good reviews.

I think I am a 50" chest so maybe should go XXXXL which is a 52 just to be sure.

I have a Spada jacket , the removable linner is good for the warmer days , plus that one has back armour as well .
