Stating the obvious perhaps but what are your reasons for riding: touring, business, commuting, pleasure or a combination of some of these reasons?

There are people here who do all of that and will have considered opinions.

How long’s a piece of string? We’ll need to know a lot more about planned usage before offering advice. What I will say is you won’t regret going Scoot……

Possibly a bit late in the season, but...are there any big dealers in your vicinity who might have a demonstrator or two? Would at least give you some idea of the different ride qualities and performance; depending on what you rode before!

In no particular order here are some of the things I consider.

Storage capacity: If you want to store your helmet and riding gear when you reach your destination you might want underseat storage that will easily hold your helmet etc. If you want to hold a decent amount of shopping or perhaps a laptop or briefcase etc. ...

Weight and size: Smaller scooters are easier to handle but if you have a bigger and stronger physique bigger ones may be more comfortable.

Performance: How fast do you need ( motorway outside lane or just local roads )? How fast do you want? Will you often carry a passenger?

Reliability and maintenance: If you cover a big mileage servicing and tyre replacement become a significant factor and if year round commuting you need reliability.

Safety: All the current generation of scooters should have ABS and most will have decent tyres. If you are contemplating older machines then these are things you would naturally check carefully.

Other factors depend on personal tastes so in an ideal situation a test ride would help.
