motorist caught driving with broken accelerator-cable!

Post by Du PontChardon »

The Isle of Man is well-known for its fearless road-racing motorcyclists, but it seems that some of their car drivers are just reckless...

Seems a bit OTT seizing the car.
I've done similar things in my youth when I've had a throttle cable snap on a bike.
Best one was when I had a Clutch cable snap.
No problem normally just start the bike in neutral, get the bike moving and change gears without the clutch.
Only problem was I had a pillion with me.
Was fun and games with two people trying to run and jump on a bike at the same time 🤣
Managed to get it home though 😀

I agree, having done the same with broken clutch cables. The old mags used to have dodges to use with a broken throttle cable like tying the end somewhere and using your knee, or swapping it with the air slide although that was always the wrong length.

I remember many years ago I had a minivan whose wiper motor packed up. We managed to tie some string to the wiper arms and pass it through the (sliding) windows and my passenger could pull them back & forward. Not very efficient but better than nothing.
