Today I went to a main Honda Dealer to have a look at a secondhand Honda Integra 750.
After looking over the Scoot I enquired about a Trade-in on my Royal Enfield Himalayan.
It is a 21 Plate, latest Euro5 Model with the Google Tripper.
It is also the adventure model with extras like hand Guards, sump plate, Engine Bars and aluminium Panniers.
Mileage at the time of the enquiry was just 281 miles on the clock and it is in as New condition.
After a long wait the guy sat me down and offered me £2000
To buy a Brand new model with the same spec would cost you £5300
After telling them they were wasting my time they upped the offer to £2500
Needless to say I walked out of the dealership laughing.
Looks like I will be keeping the Himalayan for the time being.

Re: Laughable Trade-in
The other funny thing the sales guy said was that the Himalayan needed it's first service (which it does) and they used a special Oil Filter......
I thought all engines did!
He said the oil filter would be hard to obtain.
I said "I've got one my garage!"
Not difficult to get and readily available (and also cheap!)

But didn't he bother to inform you that they can only be fitted by pixies during a full moon. And their rates have gone right up since Brexit!Normsthename wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 2:42 pm The other funny thing the sales guy said was that the Himalayan needed it's first service (which it does) and they used a special Oil Filter......

Why trade in a 281 mile nearly new bike? Seriously, I’m not being flippant I’m genuinely interested. Is the Himalayan no good?

Re: Laughable Trade-in
Nothing wrong with the Himalayan at all, it is a great bike to ride.
I just change my bikes often, I am on bike number 63 now if I remember correctly
To be honest I did 75 miles yesterday travelling around bikes shops and I really enjoyed the ride.
I just wish that it had a bit more oomph

I received the same treatment recently from a major Honda dealership in Manchester - best selling your bike privately
Re: Laughable Trade-in
Sorry, late to this thread. Just have to comment.
MCN classified gets more than a few with less than 1000 miles, likewise fleabay.
When I bought mine the dealer asked me if "I knew what I was getting into". Apparently he was sick of buyers riding away on a new one only to complain like crazy when first service came round, and the bike still won't do 90 mph. So trade in. Barmy.
Could do with a bit more grunt?? Why buy the *^%&** thing?
A little bit of pre-buying research will tell you that the engine produces 24 and a half bhp. Seriously, they spec the "half". So about the same / bit more than my BSA, Ariel, AJS and Matchless singles.
" Is the Himalayan no good? "
It is an absolutely brilliant little bike.
Had mine just a year now, 7500 miles, circa 90mpg (+/- 2). Cruises easily at A and B road speed limits. Will do short motorway runs, but not why I bought it. Dead easy to self-service (what warranty?), and gets more conversations started than any GS1250 is going to do.
Have a mate with one, (of 3 bikes), now 18 months old, 18000 miles. His one complaint - just had to replace another rear tyre.
As you will have realised, I was a V-Strom owner previously, and think just as well of my Himalayan as I did that.
RANT over, sorry.
