On the Burgman USA site there is a lot of posts about the above bolt and the need to replace it at regular intervals. But have searched this site I have only found one reference to it. The problem seems to be mostly with earlier models than my 2012 650. So my concern is, is this something I should be aware of and changing regularly seeing as if not changed and fails it can cause the destrution of the CVT and possibly the engine, or are the european models different. Anybody had any experience with this.

This is a link to LeDudes site on how to replace it seems easy enough.

Re: CVT Primary stopper bolt
This is a post from 2010 on the X9OC Forum; it was in a thread discussing the problem.
I don't think the link works, unfortunately, but I suspect your thought about it affecting older bikes is correct.
'All is explained here, scroll down to "PRIMARY PULLEY STOPPER BOLT" section - http://burgmanusa.com/bkb/650+CVT+Info but it seems to effect older bikes as Suzuki "upgraded" the part to a harder version.'

Re: CVT Primary stopper bolt
After 2011 you should be clear of stopper bolt issues, I replaced my 2009 K9 one at about 10,000 miles, it only had minimal wear.

Re: CVT Primary stopper bolt
Thanks to both of you,it is appreciated. Waldorf I haven't read that post yet as you have to join the forum to read it. I will do it when I have more time.
Dave that's what I thought which is why I bought the last of the old type. For what it costs I may replace it when I do the next service.
Thanks again

Ah! I hadn't thought of that.
Although it's the X9 Forum there's masses of useful information about many different maxis; there are workshop manuals on line there, too.
It's very quiet now but still visited by a hard core of members.

Re: CVT Primary stopper bolt
The redesigned engine was put in the old shape burgman from 2011 year to the new shape in 2013. I'm always after a bargain so they should be a good buy now.

Re: CVT Primary stopper bolt
I've been looking at second Burgman 650's for sale but I haven't seen any "cheap" ones for sale they seem to be holding their price.
