About my Cruisym 300
I have had my Cruisym 300 for just over four years now, just done the 50,000km service. I have been riding Motorcycles, and for the last twelve years Scooters, for sixty years. I do not recall any machine that i have enjoyed riding as much, including my Silverwing 600. It is straight forward to service, easy to change belt and rollers, and, as i mostly keep to speed limits and cruise at fifty M.P.H i get 94 + M.P.G. Removing wheels for tyre changes again no problems, as is replacing brake pads. I have fitted a Shad topbox and added another Shad brake light. The engine is resposive and smooth on take up, and it uses no oil between oil changes. The GB dealership gets some bad reports ,but my local dealership in Bolton i have found to be very good, I buy most thing like brake pads, filters and belts on ebay. I have heated grips and have a power lead i fitted to run my heated Keis vest in winter. I also found the Michelin city grip 2 tyre the perfect match for the bike. I just thought i would make this statement after coming home from a great ride to Southport ( which i do every wednesday) on this very hot day. Anyone considering a Sym i would highly recommend, especially if it has the 300i engine.

Impressive mileage!
Your philosophy on Sym ownership/maintenance/spares is pretty much the same as our late, great friend SteveW.
Unfortunately while most folks would agree that Sym scooters are great, those folks then split into 2 camps:-
1. Those that have dealt with MotoGB, particularly to obtain plastics/bodywork for Sym scooters
2. Those that haven't ...yet
I'm firmly in camp (1) having attempted to help my neighbour resurrect her Sym after a minor collision.
Which makes me a fan of the brand, and an enthusiastic hire customer in the EU, but way off ever being an owner in the UK.
Enjoy your ride, and I sincerely hope that you continue to be a happy resident of camp (2.)

Re: About my Cruisym 300
I have heard that parts may be a problem, on ebay i found "euro scooter parts" and they do many parts for most scooters i noticed many parts for the smaller Sym scooters, could be worth a look if you still need parts. I did need to replace the front brake caliper, but, found someone that was breaking a cruisym 300 the same year as mine so i keep them on my watch list. The only niggle i have with the Sym,twenty four hour clock, and speedo mainly in Kilometers.

Re: About my Cruisym 300
As an SYM owner myself I can confirm they are really good, reliable and affordable parts but let down by the importer motogb when it comes to getting non-consumable parts.
I have a good dealer and he doesn't enjoy dealing with them, he says the previous importer was far better to deal with.

@sylar
I've got to agree with you, that 300i engine is a peach. I've a question about belts though, where do you get them from on eBay, and are they genuine or aftermarket ones?

Re: About my Cruisym 300
The first belt change at 15000km i got one from the dealer cost £140. At 30000km i looked on ebay, cruisym, Joymax and 300i. I found that JTMAX offered belts that matched or exceeded manufactures specs. I fitted the one that matched my part number it was a JTB 7501KR i PAID £46 25. for it. At 45000km i bought and fitted another JTMAX as the first one did the job and looked very good when i changed it, again £46 25. The same thing applied to the air filter, the same filter is used on a few sym bikes the last one i just fitted cost £9.99. I have no problem using aftermarket parts.

Re: About my Cruisym 300
Thanks, that's good to know you've had good results from the JTMAX belts. At £140 for an original belt, I felt I was getting my leg lifted, especially when a much sturdier genuine belt for my Silverwing is only £80.
Like you I've no problem using good quality aftermarket parts. My Joymax was still wearing the original 9 year old air filter when I got it. Fitting a £10 replacement made quite a difference!

Re: About my Cruisym 300
Have you a link to these JTMAX people? When I search, Google thinks I'm searching for TK Maxx, which I'm certainly not, and when I insist on JTMAX, I don't see anything obviously useful.

Re: About my Cruisym 300
Thanks. However, on a facebook page, someone had one of those belts for a Tmax and it had completely self destructed after a short mileage, so I'm minded to pay the extra for Yamaha ones! Oddly, Yamaha charge marginally less than Sym do!
