SYM Maxsym 508TL

Post by Filonian »

The Loftybiker has just done a roadtest of a 2022 SYM Maxsym, the video is on his Youtube channel.

Seems a fair appraisal, as always, by him. Worth viewing if you're thinking of a SYM maxi.
Mentions that they too have had a price cut like Kymco.

Man, that exhaust is humungous!!!! And the front is hideous! Otherwise, it could be a Tmax - even sounds like one!

I like it but yes, the exhaust does look to be a whopper.

I thought the Maxsym 500s where singles? It certainly sounds like a single.

AFAIK the older Maxsym 400/600 are/were singles, but this TL508 model is a twin...after all, it copies the Tmax in most respects! How confusing is it to call both this and the other models Maxsym???

Incidentally, following Kymco's recent price reductions, it seems that Sym have been reducing theirs as well. If you fancy a TL508, its now only £8500 (apparently was £9300), which is a relative bargain! Now, whilst I'm a Tmax fan, and don't like the idea of a chain final drive, that price would be seriously tempting if I was in the market, compared to £14k or whatever for a new Tmax! AND I actually have a Sym dealer in reach, unlike Yamaha......

No, good as it may be chain drive on a scooter would be a no-no. Mind you if it rode as well as a TMax it would be tempting.

Whilst on the subject of Chinese Tmax clones, it appears that CFMoto have unveiled their own version. Not many details, and those that exist mostly in Chinese - but it looks exactly like a Tmax with 560cc engine, though claiming 56bhp! The only novelty is a pair of ridiculous MotoGP style fairing winglets, which would most likely get knocked off in commuter combat. No idea whether its a concept or a production model, and evn if a production model whether it would come to Europe, let alone the UK.

It is a beast, not sure i fancy the idea of the handbrake on the side stand, although he said under seat storage is big, didn’t look as big as say the big burger,an adjustable screen would of been a nice feature,i have the chain drive on my Forza,i kinda want to get away from that,i know its not major diy work, but still a pain to me and the key point for someone like me who doesn’t know one end of the spanner from the other end,its the dealer coverage network again, nevertheless a nice report.

For a "big 500cc maxi scooter" it is disappointingly small for a taller rider.
