Don't ride the scooter on windy days with that roof.
Also where did they pull those camp beds from. Or were they handily dumped in that field.

Re: camping any one
It is interesting to see how far society has rightly changed it's attitude to women within the lifetime of most of us on this forum. And amazing that such drivel could ever of been sanctioned by a semi respectable organisation like British Pathe......

It wasn't 'sanctioned' by anyone; it was the status quo.
In its time, it was the norm in Society.
That things have changed is Progress . . . I think.
Incidentally, today I identify as a male lesbian. Tomorrow I shall identify as something else - not decided yet but I will when I have a-woke-n - following my right to be 'fluid'.

Re: camping any one
I always thought that Pathe was the equivalent of todays's tabloid press! ie tacky and well dodgy! OK I wasn't paying much attention to Pathe news at the time, and of course it mostly reflected the values and norms of the society of the time and we are looking back on it from the perspective of a radically different society, but was some of the crap they put out really fine at the time??? I'm not saying that today's society is wonderful, but when you see stuff like that, you think I really wouldn't want to go back to those times!riders in the storm wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 12:55 pm It is interesting to see how far society has rightly changed it's attitude to women within the lifetime of most of us on this forum. Yes, agreed Grumpy. Thing are better now. Just a reminder that it wasn't until the 70's that women were even allowed to get a mortgage in their own name. There were a raft of other things too that they couldn't have or do. Quite amazing that they were so second class!

Re: camping any one
Sign of those times unfortunately. I remember back in the late eighties as a Firefighter some of the misogyny displayed by my colleagues upon being told we were to have one of the first female firefighters join our watch. “She won’t be strong enough”, “she’ll be too short” etc etc…..usually from overweight, unfit products of the sixties when they joined
turns out she became one of the best firefighters I ever worked with. Went on to become a senior officer and a credit to the service
As for camping, too old for that malarkey nowadays hence the smart camper van now on my driveway….
