T Max 2023 Tech Max 560 occasionally wont start but starter motor keeps going when you let go of starter switch

I have had this a few times . When it is cold . Push starter , it turns over but wont start as usual . Let go of the starter switch and it keeps cranking . It may then fire and go . No issues when its warm or on restarting after a run .Bike had 3000 miles on it and runs well otherwise . Any idea s ? Thanks

Without seeing a wiring diagram I would guess there are two faults, or at least one fault with two symptoms.

Start with contact cleaner on the button.

The button via relays, CAN, whatever closes the starter relay. This let's full battery voltage go the the starter motor.

I would take a jump lead and jump directly across the starter solenoid. If that works every time the problem begins with the button, any other stuff in that circuit and maybe a short or lack of RPM waking up the FI or ignition.

The FI and injectors basically react to a turning engine by squirting petrol and sparking. You can lay the plug over an open hole and see the spark. You can smell unburnt petrol down the same hole. Lack of either requires you to follow the circuit back up to the fuel pump or coil.

If it doesn't do it every time, this is going to be a right what whatsit to find. Inspect every connector you can get at and buzz every earth out to make sure it's clean, including the finger thick wire from battery negative to the frame/engine.

Many thanks Andy . Its a weird one as occurs sporadically . Its due a service soon and is under warranty so will get the guys to have a look .Appreciate your input and will start with contact cleaner on the button
