Hi all, hello from Kidderminster. I've been riding a Honda SH 300 for a year or so. Like many others I've come from motorcycles my last being a VFR750 which was lovely. But age and arthritis made the sporty riding position painful and wheeling it about difficult. Really I didn't know what I had been missing with scooters as they are so easy to use and the SH feels so light after the vfr. I've done more miles on the SH in the last year or so than I did in six years on the vfr.
Now here is a question for any SH experts. I have just changed the belt at 12 miles and purchased a Bando belt from eBay the packaging was stampedfor SH300. However, when measuring the width the new belt is only 25mm wide whereas the original I took off is 26.2mm wide. The bike runs ok with the new belt but the engine note is revving more when pulling off. Is this due to the belt width or just because it is a new belt? The new belt was a lot cheaper than Honda part but now regret cheapskating!
Cheers Uppo

Re: Hello
Welcome! I only joined recently myself, after being a scooter rider for 23 years then giving them up for 4 1/2 years. I don't know what I was thinking!
I was in your neck of the woods today. Passing through on my way to Malvern.
Had an SH300 myself once. Just for a few months. As a stopgap between Burgman 400s. Smooth ride with those big wheels and nice and narrow for slipping through traffic, but didn't really suit me due to the lack of storage.

Re: Hello
Had an sh for over 3 years, about as long as anything. Prob get another in the future, think it was bando i used, the next best thing. Just ride it, would do a mid mileage check though that it’s not fraying. As its slightly smaller it will sit deeper in the pulleys, also, do they stretch like a chain? another reason for the new to sit deeper. Dont overthink things, though i usually do.
Re: Hello
The service limit on a genuine Honda belt is 25.0mm in width, mine measures 25.16mm now my SH300i has 5k miles on the clock. Running a thinner belt than what you had previously will alter the characteristic as the engine rpm will be slightly different for the driven speed of the pulleys. I believe a genuine Honda drivebelt is 25.5mm wide for reference.

Re: Hello
I have no idea about the specific application, but Bando belts were used in a variety of different machinery when I was working in industry.
Probably the go-to belt for any machine design programme.
