Puzzled by the SH350i - Can anyone help!

Hello peeps... I'm new and finding my way. I live in the UK and ridden bikes of all sizes since I was 16. I'm 40 years on from there now and love riding.

I've just swapped my workhorse sh125 (second one) for an SH350 and having the best time.... anyone here look after their own Hondas?
I'm a bit confused - when I took out the drain plug to change the oil (with a strainer) there was no drain bolt washer... there is a flange on the bolt - but definitely no washer.
There is a washer listed for the SH300 as a spare part - and I've bought some... but not sure if they're needed.... (I assume they are but still confused why there wasn't one... any thoughts?

Cheers,

Chris

A flange bolt does away with a washer as a normal fastener. Fewer parts, better torque control, lower cost.

I'm not sure about using one as a liquid seal though. Have you checked the micro-fiche on Fowlers website? Item 37 on the crank case seems to be a 12mm washer or is that only the 300?

I'd want one fitted and Honda NW are showing them on their E-bay service kits, but they could be just doing out of habit in the same way Moto Guzzi dealers have used the wrong oil for 5 years!

Sorry it’s in French but according to this there should be a 12mm washer as Andym says (parts 22 & 40)

Check the washer isn’t simply stuck to the sump as often happens

I’ve bought the consumables to do my Forza which is essentially the same motor, I’ve bought a new 12mm washer for the engine oil drain plug as well as 8mm for the drain, fill and level plugs on the final drive

As Leadfarmer says maybe washer is stuck on bottom of sump? I had this on my SH300 and had to use a blade screwdriver to carefully prise the old on off.
