Hi All. Owner of a 2019 Honda SH300i

Post by Urbanfireblade »

Hi everyone,

Stumbled across this forum by accident searching for information on the Honda SH300! What a great find it is.
I've not had my scooter long, i traded in a 2009 Triumph Speed Triple 1050 for it  , i've had many smaller 125cc bikes over the years(and lots of bigger ones) but decided to try a mid size 300 as a change and no regrets!
I recognised one very familiar username on here from the C90 forum, i met up with you on a charity easter egg ride many years ago, thumb.gif .
I'm based down on the south coast,

Cheers!

Well scooter ownership lasted exactly 6 months! I've sold the Honda SH300i.

I had plans to use it for my short commute to work daily, but in reality, I rarely used it, like a dozen times in 6 months for that purpose.

I've been riding 30 years and find biking a lot more wearing on me now, a cycle or drive is so much easier.

So that's what I've done, sold the scooter and bought a Peugeot 108 1.0L as its replacement.
The sad thing is that I also realised how expensive scooter ownership has become.

Car tax is £0 vs £55 for the scooter(going up in April).
Insurance £50 cheaper for the car and fuel costs are virtually the same.

I still have a 2002 Kawasaki GPZ500 I use for rideouts, I've owned that bike 6 years now.

I can empathise.

I have a '97 600 Diversion that owes me nothing, costs £60 to insure fully comprehensive, returns 70 mpg and starts on the button even when left for 6 months at a time.

It's utterly pointless trading it in for something more modern, and I'd get next to nothing for it, anyway.

I do more miles on bicycles than in my van and PTWs combined! 8-)

You've changed the scoot for a car? Cars are very efficient and great for transport, but boy are they boring! Which is the main reason why, after 5 years away from 2 wheels on 4 I went back to 2. Plus I was due to retire and I wanted (fairly) cheap transport to replace the car. So far no regrets.

That's exactly how my GPZ500 is too. Doesn't owe me anything, and i still enjoy a country road bimble on it now and then.

Ministerofsillywalks, cars being boring is a personal perspective, I guess i enjoy things other people would find boring nowadays. I was super happy tootling around on my 125 Honda Innova a few years ago, despite it being old and slow, yet i have that same enjoyment driving my little 3 cylinder Peugeot too. Perfectly suits my needs👍.
I have a family sized car but that's now relegated to weekend use.
