Hi everyone
I have recently purchased a Kawasaki j300 2020, it’s apparently been stood up for a few months and serviced before I brought it…… all is good but….. when I reach 65mph the Speedo seems to not work and go to zero and the abs light comes on, as soon as I drop back to 65mph or less all is good again, no other problem with the bike whatsoever.
Could anybody on here give me any pointers please on where to start first?
Any help would be highly appreciated

Kindest regards (New to this ste)
Thanks in advance

Wheel bearings. Run out on the ABS polewheels will do what you describe and is one of the few ABS faults that will not latch until the next ignition on.

If it isn't that, try running with the OBD reader plugged in and watch the battery voltage. Could be all sorts that cause it but once you know it's electrical not mechanical you can start to buzz out the loom, look at the VR etc.

As Andy says mechanical checks first. Anything that affects the sensors and the pickup rings. These rings must be flat and within the correct clearance to the sensors at all times. Also make sure that the wires to the sensors are secure and not flapping about in the breeze. Intermittent sensor failure is not unknown. You should be able to establish which sensor is used for the speedo, perhaps by running the scooter up on the centre stand, and this may highlight which one is causing the trouble.

Once you've got it going, it's a lovely scoot to ride: had an SE for 3 years and loved it!

Hi all….
Just an update, popped into local a well known garage in the southwest, had it scanned, fault is/was showing ABS sensors front and back fault and wheel sensor fault…….. but…… thought I’d take it for a quick spin before I took it into the garage and had no problems with it what so ever, so the garage and I have decided to clear all faults and start all over again rather than just replacing everything straight away

Thank you for all your advice and help

Will keep you posted

I forgot to replace the speedo sensor plug on mine and at about 60 mph the abs light came on and it went into limp home mode,
replacing the sensor plug and all was well, could just be a bad connection, especially if it's had work like fitting a new belt were I
think you have to pull the plug.
