New (ish) Tmax owner

Post by Purplepineapple »

Hi all. Basically making this post as I’m a new member and it asked me to.

My name is Luke and I recently moved to Italy from the UK and now living in a hot country I decided to buy another tmax 530DX (I had mk3 in the UK and got laughed at for it, you know - the usual bike snobs)

I also have an FZ1 in the garage but waiting to get the v5 translated into Italian so I can re register it on Italian plates. Anyway, the long and short of this post was to ask if anyone has done the alps 2 up on a Tmax and if so, how they found it compared to on a “proper” bike?

Thanks chaps and hopefully speak soon

We have been through the Sierra Nevada and other Spanish mountains on our Mark 1 and Mark 3s. They can cope with the hills fine but don’t expect to storm up long inclines. Two up it is happy at 70mph. It can be pushed further but it’s less keen. On the twisters both 1/3 (never tried a 530) are great bikes, often humiliating more timid riders around the bends. Yes really. Brakes on the mark 1 were merely adequate. The brakes on the 3 and yours are fine. And the touring capability you should know about. In short we took our Mark 1 everywhere notching up 26k miles. The Mark 3s together did about 11k miles to date, a lot of it abroad. Fabulous machines. It’s why they are everywhere in Italy, France and Spain. Only now seemingly being overtaken by the Honda things. Very popular now in Spain
