New ADV350

I've finally got my ADV350. I was worried about the red being a bit garish, but it looks great ( to me) in the flesh, really pleased with it. I spent last night fitting a genuine Honda rack, Givi top box, Givi tall screen, CTEK connector and a front mudflap. The dealer had fitted the smoked perspex leg guards for me and they look great. I love the new instrument panel, but the "Smart" key is bl**dy awful !

I'm 6'2" but it is really comfy for me with plenty of room in the saddle. The dealer delivered it in a van, but I took it a short ride last night and really liked the way it goes ! Will I ever ride the NC750X again...??!!

Congratulations!
I'm sure you'll soon get used to the key thing; it took me a little while but I'm very comfortable with it now. ;)

That looks gorgeous! Love that red. It's been a bike I've been interested in since Mottza & Roadrunner got there's. I've always been a little concerned about my height & long legs, but hearing you are same height as me & finding it fine is pleasing. However, although I'm liking the ADV I love my 350 Meteor & am looking at adding a 650 Super Meteor this summer too! I'll have to see how the finances look later in the year.

Got to watch the money a little as just also spent out on a brand new MG electric car. Seems all my friends are getting them or already got one too, including some on here. :D

What's the problem with the smart key? Never had any worries in 5 years?

Probably me not being used to it yet, it has two buttons on the key fob and I haven't worked out what they do. I referred to the manual but I'm not clever enough to understand it. I ended up randomly pressing both buttons in different sequences until eventually I managed to start the engine. To my mind another example of technology "solving" a problem that never existed. What's wrong with just putting a key in the ignition and turning it...!!??

I've seen plenty online about the smart key and randomly being unable to start the Forza/ ADV.

Got to admit it's something playing on my mind on whether to buy one.

Anyone on here had any trouble?

Smart keys: Always carry a spare battery (I have on taped inside the topbox). There must be more drain on the battery; I could just bump start my SuperCub after the winter lay up. If I'd left it much longer, it could have been a problem (although I left the seat open for just that eventuality). In general use, they are not a problem, but I'd be just as happy with a normal key.

For me, the main problem with the new Honda's is the stupid swith arrangement - I have never managed to beep the horn at someone without looking for the switch! It should always be at the bottom!

Well...it's all in the handbook, but -
The button with the motorcycle on it is purely to make the indicators flash so you can find your bike in a park full of scooters.
The other button switches the key itself on and off, to save the battery when you're not using the bike.
A brief press of the button causes the light to show green for on or red for off. (If your're colour blind, as I am, I do find the red is 'brighter'. STUPID choice of colours!)
A long press of that button causes the light to flash e.g. red if the key is off, then turn green for on.
Put key in pocket, start bike, ride away - Do NOT forget to take the key with you!
Hope that helps...
