Had a ride up to Coalville,weather was good for riding, rain expected for the next couple of days,just over an hour for me,i last went there when i had my Harley which is probably 20 years ago,my Draggin jeans have been good to me,they are probably a good 10 years old,been washed a few times,so are a bit faded,,plus they are getting ever more difficult to do upso i treated myself to a pair of JTS Cool Rider AAA Rated jeans,Kevlar supplied with knee and hips armour,i often wore thermals under my Draggin jeans,but i don’t think i will need to with these JTS jeans,plenty to look at in the store,plus they have a warehouse to cater for short legged fat gits like methe AAA rated is obviously to do with CE armour they are stretch to allow for that little bit of growth after a hearty breakfast,wore them around the home when i got back for an hour and they felt good.

Not sat on the bike yet with them on,but i definitely needed a belt,so could always release the belt one notch if needed,the shop staff seemed very friendly,i tried on a few pairs which meant they needed to go out to the warehouse a couple of times,they made me a tea and most importantly had. Customer toilet,plenty of parking out back.

I was wearing a JTS jacket when I had my big accident recently and it seems to have surivived it - with only a few superficial marks on the outside! Quite impressed. Saves me buying another one for now (unlike my nearly new Schuberth Helmet!).
The AA / AAA ratings are to do with abrasion resistance (ie the Kevlar) rather than the armour. Obviously AAA offers better abrasion resistance than AA, but there's a lot of controversy about whether these ratings mean a lot, with the makers of fully lined jeans pointing out that they are far more abrasion resistant than 'Single layer' jeans whether the kevlar is interwoven with the denim, even if the single layer jean has a AAA rating.

I've bought some things from there, and I've been astonished at the quality - doesn't feel cheap at all! (No, I've no connection with the company apart from being a customer!)

I often wonder if I'm in the minority, because every time riding jeans get a mention on forums and Facebook groups they all seem to have Kevlar in their construction, even the cheapo ones from Aldi and Lidl.

The riding jeans I wear when I can't be bothered to get into a full suit are made by Bull-it and they are made using AAA abrasion rated Covec woven into the fabric.. The jeans aren't stiff at all, in fact they're very comfortable. I also like that I canget caught in heavy rain wearing them and it's no problem as they'll just get damp and then dry very quickly. I've swapped the knee pads a couple of times from the selection I have, The one's currently in the knee pockets are probably D3O or similar mesh type. Hip pads might be original ones or I may have changed them D3O ones too.

Covec performs the same function as Kevlar - adds abrasion resistance to normal fabric. You can either have a separate lining of Kevlar or similar, or interweave the material into the denim. Whether the latter is as effective as the former is a matter of debate. I'd prefer kevlar-lined jeans, but they can be too hot in the summer, especially off the bike, so I have both types.
