I honestly don't think a medium sized scooter can be beaten as a do-anything two wheeler. My Dad has been on scooters for about 15 years and finally convinced me two years ago. I occasionally miss the brute force of a Moto Guzzi etc. but then you think of the hassle of where you put your helmet, all that gear changing nonsense....

On the 400 Burgervan give the regulator a good blast of something preservative once in a while, they mounted them in a frankly stupid place near the front wheel. Also think of security, even the scrotes know how good they are.

Welcome, I had a 2009 K9 Burgman and a lovely Scooter it was, the year when Suzuki improved the regulator and I had no problems with mine.

Hello there Locutus 13, enjoy your Burgman 400, I love mine, it's older than yours (2005) and has been virtually trouble free. Perhaps one of the experts here can tell me about the Regulator problem, which I didn't know about , but it'll worry me now!

The regulator is mounted inside the fairing basically above the front wheel. If you start getting flat batteries you'll probably buy a new battery first then find that doesn't change anything. Put a meter on the charged battery and start the engine. You'll see it isn't sat nicely at 13.5 V (give or take) when you rev it. Either 11.5V (not charging at all) or wavering at 11.5 to 15. Get a small child who's watched enough James Herriot to access the Reg-Rec and you'll find it dusty silver with bits of green/orange. It's made of Chineseium and mounted in a silly place. Buy another from a reputable supplier, use silicone spray on the connectors and ACF-50 on the body, refit and you are good to go for another few years. The Old Boy got through two in nine years but the second one was another Chinese nasty so a bad bargain.
