Italjet has launched its bizarre Dragster 700 maxi-scoot/bike thingy.

If anyone can suggest what sort of person this would appeal to, please let me know!

It has a foot operated 6 speed gear box , and maybe a hand operated clutch lever - not sure on that point, foot "pegs" instead of "floorboards", and is chain driven.
The body work is only at the front of the bike, and it looks to have a foot operated rear brake.
I have not seen under the seat but there does not seem much room available for much storage.

I like CVT automatic transmission, floorboards, hand operated brakes, no foot controls, good storage space under the seat, and bodywork all round - so it's not for me. Maybe it would attract someone who wants a motorcycle, with excellent power ( 68 bhp/118 mph ) that looks very slightly like a scooter, but doesn't have most of the normal convenient scooter features :D

No storage under the seat....
For all intents & purposes its a motorcycle that looks a bit like a scooter. Why not just buy the Benelli TRK motorbike that the engine comes from? The Tmax is also a motorcycle disguised as a scooter, but at least it acquired scooter like features like auto trans, storage, decent fairing and lost the chain.

I assumed it was part of a money laundering operation.

The Kymco AK550 is how this should be done for practical purposes. Its engine is far enough forward for even weight distribution and the belt final drive and underseat storage give scooter like benefits that are missing from the Italjet. Italjet styling is for posters and possers!

It's a shame as the original Dragster was a hoot to ride. I was fortunate enough to ride the OG Dragster 180 and a factory-tuned Formula 125 back-to-back. Even managed to get one of 'em featured in Streetfighters magazine.

The 180 Dragster was a blast! 8-)
