suspension upgrade

I've posted this current ebay advert because I can't decide if the way he has upgraded the front supension is genius or not. Never seen it done like this before.

Can't see from the pictures whether the front end geometry has actually been altered to change the steering head angle or trail. If not then this is just a way of adjusting spring rates and damping more conveniently. The "problem" with sidecars is that turning can require effort on the front forks and suspension (i.e. side loads) that they were never designed for and this has not actually been addressed as far as I can see.

Older machines such as BMWs with leading or trailng link systems were the ones favoured by sidecar diehards and there may still be specialists who can make suitable conversions without needing to alter the steering head itself. This would usually allow a suitable tyre with a flat profile and I don't know if these are still made with high speed ratings.

Having just owned a 600 Divvy of the same vintage, I’d assume that it’s purely to cope with the weight.

The geometry looks to be unchanged.

I assumed it was just for strength and not altering the steering in any way. These peoplehttps://www.waspmotorcycles.com/on%20the%20road.html still make leading links for that. I just wondered if anybody thought it was a better way of doing it than fitting heavier fork springs. At least this way you can fit some decent suspension on it.
If I could weld I'd be tempted to fit some on the Burgman. :lol:
