What would your ideal scooter be?

If you could put the engine from one scooter into the body of another and add features from still others, or even design your own and have it built, what would it be?

Mine would be something like a Burgman (the old model with more space under the seat) but with a 500 single engine in it (to keep the weight down as I don't like scooters that are too heavy). And putting out around 35 bhp and with a top speed of around 95 mph. Plus an electric screen like my Forza and heated grips. And built-in satnav.

What would yours be?

The size and weight of the Forza is right, wouldn’t want any bigger for town use

Under seat storage is good, the smart top box just needs a tiny bit more capacity to fit 2 modular helmets

I’d say a Forza with 10hp more, a rising rate mono shock rear suspension, full length forks at the front and twin disks

A better seat and better heated grips than actual OEM would be nice

Something like a Tmax chassis, but lighter, less silly tech, more luggage space, cheaper to run.

A Forza with more power, better suspension and a little more storage would be nice, but a more powerful Burgman would be better for me. It is bigger and more comfortable than the Forza. I nearly had one and it was only the lighter weight and the electric screen that led me to go for a Forza instead. More power would have steered me towards a Burgman.

I would consider a Tmax myself, but the weight and the 800 mm seat height (I have quite short legs) put me off. Plus the underseat storage could be better. Plus a few less bhp for more mpg.

This depends on what you want to use it for. This is why at the current stage of my life the ADV350 cannot really be bettered. An 80+ mph top speed is suitable for motorways and dual carriageways and is all I want. Luggage capacity is excellent with top box when required. Acceleration from rest is as much as my body will stand.

In really blue sky thinking, at the Star Wars level, I would like a hybrid electric version with less weight and better performance. I would like easier home maintenance supported by freely available documentation from the manufacturer ( Honda seem to want everything kept secret now). At the same time I would like spurious electronics such as keyless and Bluetooth to be removed although I have no objection to USB charging for mobiles and navigation devices.

No doubt if I was in my twenties rather than seventies my answers would be completely different!

51 here and really want proper connectivity. Ditch the in-house rubbish and give me a 7-inch screen and CarPlay. No pointless rev-counter, let me define my own display (legal stuff automatically there of course).

Another vote for a 35 HP Forza though. Give me real GPS measured 75 mph on cruise control speed, regardless of hills/wind and I'll live with rest as is.

Oh, I want actual colours too. Make it red or yellow like a Vespa not grey like a posh fridge.

Andy

45hp ADV that retains the lightness of the 350.

Gilera Mk1 500 Nexus, circa 2004-6 but with the powerplant of the Kymco Downtown 300 circa 2010.

In the original fire red and black, naturally, and the same level of tech as it had in 2006.

Set up for torque, not bhp. Acceleration not top speed.

A Forza 350 with working suspension!
