Well, I guess its a cheap bike to get you around on! Though whether you'd prefer one of these to a conventional 125 scoot is a matter of choice. I guess it depends if you are familiar and like the (presumably Honda cub like) semi-auto box. Doesn't seem like much weather protection or luggage space though, limiting its usefulness.
Presumably built in China?

Some definite advantages over the Honda.
E.g. Price, sensible fuel tank size, side stand. I could be tempted!

It's a style exercise. Pizza delivery people are going to buy CVT everytime. These are in the same market as Cub's, Monkey bikes etc. where the owner wants a ride out with a feeling they aren't constantly holding back to beat the cameras. The whole "ADV" insanity is mostly just a narrative people like to place themselves in, it replaced the race track one. Good for the soul if it's your thing.
Everything is made in China. The only variations is whose management structures they follow. Honda act Japanese in Thailand using Chinese parts. We'll see if AJS 2022 limited of Andover can/will control what comes out of their white label suppliers like Loncin and Kamax. If they can my only remain objections are political, so not something for a polite forum like this one and entirely personal choice.

Does this 125cc bike really qualify as a maxi?

No but I hope you will indulge us ( aging? ) muppeteers who like to potter around on something lightweight too.

As a Maxi owner may I make a comment, I visited the AJS warehouse in Andover when they were supplying spares for AJS bikes. They were starting to sell the Tempest and Classic 125's. I look forward to riding one soon.

Given how dead this forum can be I doubt a bit of chat on anything roughly related does any harm.
If a link is really required, my 350 is actually kept as the practical support for my SuperCub. Goes places where I don't have time to go the interesting way. These AJS SuperCub style bikes show the interest the market has. Take all the "funky" 125's from the actual Monkey through to total dross C50 copies and there is way more activity with new launches than the AI generated 650 Suzuki that probably won't happen and a new shade of Forza 750 that still looks more fridge than Ferrari. ☹

Fair replies to my comment.
As an aside... as someone who went from a 1100cc bike to a 350 scooter at 76 years I think it's a shame that we are a sector that is ignored by publishers. Scooter mags seem to be for people who are into vintage machines and bike mags seem not to have heard of us. I have now cancelled two subscriptions to bike mags. They seem not to realise that many older bikers migrate to scooters as they get older.

I've got to agree about bike mags stopped buying them a long time ago. But if I could find one that had a decent section on maxis I would be tempted.
