I've changed my Forza 300 for an X Max 300. I've not ridden it on the road yet - too cold for me at present. I have noticed however, when I've started it from cold in the garage, it cranks over for quite a few seconds before it fires. After being run for a minute or two, and then stopped, it fires up immediately. The battery is good and turns the engine over quickly, but it takes it's time to start when cold. I have only ridden it up the drive into the garage, and it runs well and pulls smoothly

I won't be riding it till the weather warms up a bit, and then if I think it's still a problem, I will take it back to the supplying dealer to check it out.
The scooter has not been used much, and possibly the fuel may be old.

I have previously had an X Max 400, a different scooter altogether though, but I don't recall it being a slow starter in cold weather.

Have any X Max 300 owners on here noticed anything similar, when starting after a few days in cold weather?

If it hasn't been used much, the fuel may well have been in it for a LONG time, and if it's E10 it could well be going off. Refill with E5 as soon as you can and see if that improves things - but try not to be tempted to keep running it for a few minutes in the garage; that'll just fill the exhaust with unburnt acids!

Mine starts ok it as never exactly been enthusiastic at turning over but never fails, I turn it on
let the clocks do their think then press the button, one thing to note they only have a 12 amp ish
alternator though with the led head lights it seems to keep the battery up.

+1 with the fuel maybe old and E10 ? Could you siphon some out and replace with some super unleaded ( put old fuel in car )
Also on mine because the battery is behind the front panel I have a optimate cable fitted so I can keep battery topped up over winter .

6c today, and it took a long spin over on the starter before it fired, then ran smoothly. I got well togged up and went on my first ride since it was delivered. I was out about 70 mins and covered 30 miles, it ran smoothly and accelerated well, plus the handling and braking was well up to scratch. Again, once started and then stopped, it started instantly, and it ran smoothly and evenly all the time I was out on it.

It is fitted with an optimate cable, but the battery charge was not the problem, as it spun over quickly for a good while before it started.

As suggested, I'll try some fresh E5 petrol, if I can syphon some out ( it's got 1/2 a tank full ), or I'll just run it down by riding the bike and using up the fuel. Thanks for the suggestions.

You don’t give any details of age or mileage of scooter , Could need new plug or valves adjusted etc ?

It's a 2023 Tech Max 300 with 2,150 miles on the clock, it had the 600 mile service in Dec 2023, and an oil and filter change by my supplying dealer. It hasn't done many miles in the past 2 yrs, and still looks pretty much as new. I think plug and valve adjustment should be OK, after such low mileage. I filled it up with E5 petrol yesterday, it started 2nd attempt. I then ran it for a bit to try and get the fresh petrol through. I tried it again this morning and it started instantly - first time. Stale fuel was the definitely the problem.

Ok sounds like you fixed it.
I have the exact same model and year tech max 300 .

Stick to E5 over winter and if you are not using often . E10 is ok if you use the scooter daily and use the full tank before refilling.
