Nice part of the country that....A57.
Go there every now and then(with me job).
Think the DamBusters used to practice in that area.

Shaun..

Dambuster's practised on derwent water which is next to lady bower, which is what you ride past when coming off the snake pass.

Usually at end of summer when the water is low in derwent, you can see remains of some buildings in the water as both reservoirs used to be villages that were flooded for drinking water in the early 1900's.

ALthough I like derwent water more for the duck's in the car park. It's pretty cool. Thousands of them, and if you feed them they will engulf you and are so tame as to eat out your hands and let you stroke them.

Good Pics, ages since I was on those roads.
Now here's an obscure Dambusters link, In the '70s I was in the RAF and used to do the Lincoln to Bury run every few weeks along the A57 and A628 Woodhead Pass. I was stationed at RAF Scampton, home of 617 Squadron (The Dambusters), though they were flying Avro Vulcans at that time. There, I told you it was obscure...
I was riding/driving a Suzuki GT250k, Bond Bug, Triumph Dolomite Sprint or a Honda CX500 at the time. Ah! happy days.
