Braveheart tour 2012

Post by ginge »

Finally worked out a route and accom for a little tour we are doing north of the border in June.
We leave Carlisle Sat 16th for Ft William. 2 nights here with a trip to Skye on 2nd day. Then off to John O'Groats and back down to Inverness for 2 nights. A trip round a few Speyside distileries on the 2nd day.
We then head off down to Old Reekie via Dundee/ St Andrews/Anstruther and Kinghorn. Again 2 nights in Leith with a trip to the Falkirk wheel and Stirling on the 2nd day.
Home on the Friday stopping off at Hadrians wall.
If anyone wants to meet up just let me know where and when.
Ginge. 8-)

1st day in Inverness is now going to be a bit of a rest day. So I will have a little time to have a look around the town. Need to buy nyself a kilt. Anyone with any recommendations for kilt makers.

If you need a kilt you'll need hose.
If you need hose you'll need flashes, a sgian dubh and brogues.
You will also need a shirt, waistcoat, jacket, tie and sporran.
Typical price for the whole lot from a decent maker, £1,000
I can recommend McCalls of Aberdeen.

Looks like I'll have to wait until next year for my kilt. Cancelled the trip to Scotland.Just too wet friday, saturday. So we are doing a shortened tour but only as far as the Lakes. A friend of mine has a holiday cottage in Tebay. We are renting it for 4 days from Monday. Hoping to get to Whitby one day. Hawes and Grassington another and a trip round the lakes maybe doing Wrynose and Hard knot. Lets hope the weather stays fine.
