Not having a go at you by the way, but I know people from Edinburgh who ride to Mersea Island every September on 125 Vespas. Now thats a ride!mottza wrote:And its 75 miles to south mimms for me.
Its 300 miles from here and maybe about 5.5-6hrs with some stops. Not what I would call fun on a what is a small scoot!

No I dont know more than you but I know if you go off the beaten track its not as busy as main towns and you can have a nice ride .Also by Sunday caravans will be settled in for the weekend and we arnt out to compete with sport bikers. If theres anything else negative you can think off please post it up .Julian

Just avoid Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside. In other words the eastern lake shore road past Windermere.
Go up the other side to Hawkshead and across to Coniston, or up the Kirkstone pass to Glenridding then across to Keswick and down the Honister Pass to Buttermere and Cockermouth down the coast road past Sellafield then over Corney fell back to Bouth and Newby Bridge.
It's nice up around Grizedale or up Langdale. It won't be dead on the roads, but it won't be queueing traffic either.

It's possible I might be up for this, it's local, I love the Lakes but also I may be heading for Scotland that weekend. Tobermory and a circle of Mull is beckoning.
